8.2: beating the game

 Kim: The First Gamer?

1) he’s an adolescent boy

2) he is interested in adventure, over ideas, morals

3) he assumes different identities (notably artificially darkening his skin)

4) his world view is neither serious nor indifferent, in a way that would become far more common after the introduction of video games

5) He exists as, and within, a series of constructs as opposed to reality

Yakuza 6

-Somya (more or less a bad guy, never met Kiryu before this game) references that it is known that Kiryu never kills-- in response to Kiryu having seemingly come up with a plan to kill some guys. Kiryu seems, at this moment, willing to go through w the homicides

-so the Millenuim tower brawl, you, your allies, and the bad guys are all wearing the same fucking suite? It’s ridiculous. No idea who your character is for a lot of the fight. Holds you back less than one might think, tho.

-onomichi pudding, best power up in the game? Not that filling, reaasonable health, green purple exp?

-just shot a helicopter w a rocket launcher. Doubt this factors into the “dragon of dojima is not a killer” dynamic...but it probably should.

[10.19: Helicopter v Rocket launcher, in Anglo-American law

I doubt that helicopters or rocket launchers show up in ye olde criminal courts all that often, which you gotta admit is too bad. [I hereby call on politicians in both parties come together and to increase civilian access to rocket launchers! bipartisan gun control legislation! BOOM (ha!)]

You are in a skyscraper, in a city, and some guy is shooting a machine gun at you from a helicopter, can you fire a rocket launcher at the helicopter and claim self defense? On some level, maybe…? They are trying to kill you, you defend yourself. But when you fire the rocket at the chopper you are using deadly force on, at least, everyone in the chopper, and I don’t know the law about when an action taken in self defense necessarily impacts people other than the primary aggressor(s)

Could you go to jail for reckless endangerment/depraved indifference murder if the chopper hits someone on the way down? You take an action in self-defense that puts a third person in obvious, serious danger, can you raise self-defense if the third party gets fucked up? It has to be extremely fact specific, I would assume.

Last refuge of the duty to retreat? Yeah, I think that’s the winner. Some dude is firing a damn machine gun at you from a helicopter, in a densely populated city, I think you might have a duty to retreat rather than shooting the helicopter down with a damn rocket launcher. It’s probably a better idea, too. Just safer all around, for everyone.]

-for some reason, in the end game, I have prioritized “tiger drop mastery” as a thing to get. Idk why. I NEVER use tiger drops. NEVER. Like I have probably played a Yakuza game all the way through for every Tiger Drop I’ve successfully landed. I guess it’ll be easier now if I suddenly decide to start…

-its uneaven, but over the course of a game they actually do a superb job w Nagamo.

-post rocket launchering TWO helicopters, Akiyam still thinks its a big deal Kiryu has NEVER killed anyone, and it would be ril bad if he started…

-Kiryu CLAIMS to be PREPARED to kill…

-fuck am I gonna get into ghost photography? I gotta maybe 3 hours gaming, for I gotta do a thing... should keep absolute end for latter, tonight, tomorrow, and f aroud? Kinda just wanna get a sucker done while I’m feeling it.

-eh lets burn one and close this sucker out…

-Did Kiryu kill Iwami? Seems unlikley, little pointless + they would have made a bigger deal of it if he had, still hard to say he didn’t given what we see…

-nah, Diago just spelled out that Iwami + another guy who could have been CONCEIVABLY dead are alive

42 hours playtime, 3,263 enemies beaten, +155/285 awards
